Ecole supérieure d’art de Lorraine, Epinal-Metz | Épinal

about

The Epinal school has a history which has always been situated in the field of the narrative image, graphic design and publishing.
Experimental and creative practices thrive in the specific spaces which are at the same time affirmed and diversified as time goes on. Traditional or “populaire” imagery in effect deals with extremely diverse themes through religion, politics, fiction and pedagogy. Images within fiction and pedagogy show themselves to be inventive and interesting on many points: it creates psychologically significant characters in the social framework, it develops new systems of narration, it uses original formatting (images in volume), it calls upon industrial print techniques, talented creators, it makes knowledge accessible, finally it uncovers a new audience, that of youth.
Today the school uses all of the resources of the contemporary arts with the extraordinary diversity of their modes of expression to perpetuate this tradition.
