about

The ésa hosts 250 students spread over two sites, favoring a diversified and original pedagogical offer within its art option. Forty artist-teachers, authors, graphic designers, editors, critics, philosophers, theoreticians, art historians and researchers are engaged in a dynamic of teaching art through art.
In Tourcoing, the mention “body and contexts: visual arts and stage arts” is interested in the links between visual and performance arts both in their disciplinary collaborations and in their fusion within innovative artistic propositions. This mention is built with the Center for the Study of Contemporary Art, a research laboratory of the University of Lille 3 and Latitudes Contemporaines, a professional structure for distribution and creation.
In Dunkirk, the mention “exhibition issues” puts the site into contact with the ensemble of partners and territorial projects (Museums – LAAC, Museum of Fine Arts, FRAC, Performance and exhibition spaces (Studio 43, Jazz-Club, Bateau-feu, 4 écluses), the University of the Littoral Côte d’Opale, the municipal Conservatory, companies, the urban community, maisons de quartier, cursive projects, structuring events, etc.) tending to guide the student towards work linked to the notion of projection of the object, the body or speech towards contexts where it is completely engaged, outside of its place of production, as form.

FLEA Class – French as a Foreign Language / Art

The Nord-Pas de Calais/Dunkerque-Tourcoing Higher School of Art has launched the first FLE Art curriculum, geared towards non french speaking students who wish to follow a preparation for entry competitions of French Higher Art Schools. This FLEA class, set up by the Nord-Pas de Calais/Dunkerque-Tourcoing ESA in collaboration with those of Cambrai and Valenciennes, opened its doors in September of 2013. Classes are taught on the Dunkirk site.
The FLEA proposes a double training to students: an intensive learning of written and spoken French, 16 hours a week and a preparation for integrating into higher art school curricula, in the form of diverse and complete visual arts workshops (drawing, volume, video, photo, painting, publishing, graphic design, space design, computers).
