The French Public Higher Schools of Art

Montpellier

MO.CO ESBA Montpellier Contemporain

about

During their curriculum in the ESBAMA, students progressively acquire the knowledge and fundamentals that give them the ability to intervene in the field of creation and allow them to successfully operate art research projects, thanks to the input of university methodologies and techniques (drawing, painting…) on one hand, and on the other, through the learning of technological tools (digital photography, video, computer generated images…).
Graduates from the Higher School of Fine Arts of Greater Montpellier are intended either to become artists, or to exercise a professional activity in the domains of art, creation, culture or teaching.

The establishment possesses many assets:
– The high quality of its teaching, coming from a multidisciplinary and experienced teaching team, that includes a number of artists and researchers,
– The constant presence of professionals and artists at the heart of the establishment, with regularly organized lectures and workshops led by invited personalities.
– The engagement of the establishment’s 200 students, with links to previous graduates.
– Its articulation with other establishments of Higher Education, including universities and art schools,
– The unique nature of a curriculum organized around a programme phase and a project phase, including a good number of systems allowing connections between practice and theory,
– The presence of integrated research group (Pratiques et numérique, Skéné, Art_valeur_marchandise, l’Âne musicien, ActuLab)
– An active relationship with the business world (the Cap Omega business nursery…)
– Its international development (Erasmus conventions…)
– Its active policy of exhibitions and publications,
– A range of materials allowing the realization of even the most elaborate projects,
– A connection with cultural establishments, including museums and contemporary art centers (Fabre Museum, the L/R FRAC, the National Center for Choreography of Montpellier…)
